Black Stockings Meadow Rue (Thalictrum) - 1 Gallon Pot
Translated, Thatlictrum means "to flourish," and 'Black Stockings' lives up to that by being vigorous and much tougher than it looks. It features abundant, ethereal clusters of delicate lavender-pink flowers atop thin but sturdy black stems. Mix this with the attractive lacy green foliage and the color contrast is absolutely beautiful. The foliage is similar in appearance to columbine or bleeding hearts (Dicentra) and the flower sprays to baby's breath. In our north-central Georgia gardens the bloom begins in June and continues through August to early September. Meadow Rue looks best in natural settings and is deer, insect and rabbit resistant. In the hot South performance is best with some shade or filtered sun in the afternoon. At 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide, Black Stockings Meadow Rue is a first-class perennial and the perfect choice as a grouping or background plant in sunny to partially shaded woodland or perennial borders and other less formal settings.
