EnduraScape™ Red Verbena
Verbena hybrida 'EnduraScape Red' PPAF

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 7a-10b  Find Your Zone

Cultural Preferences

For years the only truly hardy perennial Verbena we'd found and had growing in our gardens was 'Homestead Purple'. That all changed with the introduction of the Endurscape Verbenas. We've had EndruaScape Red growing now since 2014 in our gardens here in north central Georgia (USDA Zone 8a>) and it's demonstrated itself to be equal in cold hardiness to 'Homestead Purple'. EnduraScape Red isn't nearly as aggressive as Homestead so it fits well in smaller spaces flowering prolifically from spring to frost on trailing stems that form a dense, ground-hugging carpet maybe 6 inches above the ground.  Both butterflies and hummingbirds will flock to the bright red flowers!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 6 to 8 inches tall and spread to 2 feet or more, Endurascape Red Verbena is an ideal selection for a low border, in groupings or mass plantings, or to cascade over a wall. It is also ideal for growing as a spiller plant in container gardens. That said, when growing in a container, above ground, the plant may not be as cold hardy due to its roots being exposed to the colder temperatures during winter. That said, pots can be always be brought indoors when temperatures are forecast to drop lower than freezing. Otherwise, when growing in the ground, plants are hardy to 0 degrees F. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens!

Suggested Spacing:  18" for groupings, solid borders or mass plantings

Cultural Preferences

EnduraScape Red Verbena is exceptionally easy to grow in all but constantly soggy soil, which is a killer. It prefers a moist to somewhat dry well-drained soil and as much sun as you can give it for heaviest flowering.
