Peggy Clarke Flowering Apricot Tree - 7 Gallon Pot
A winter wonder, 'Peggy Clarke' is a Japanese Flowering Apricot cultivar adored for its spectacular and abundant display of highly fragrant, clove-scented, showy double rose-pink blossoms nearly covering the naked stems in mid- to late-winter. The petals surround a prominent cluster of yellow-tipped white stamens. Since the flowers come when temperatures are cold, they are very long-lasting. The tree in our Zone 8a gardens begins blooming in late January or early February. It is a welcome beauty and delightful sight when little to nothing else is blooming in the landscape! The flowers are followed by fuzzy-skinned greenish-yellow apricots with clinging stones. The fruits ripen in summer and are edible, but some say they're too bitter. The birds love them, though! A moderate to fast-growing tree that reaches 15 to 20 feet tall and equally as wide at maturity, with no pruning to control size, Peggy Clarke is one of those rare beauties that will have you always looking forward to winter. It deserves a spot in every garden where it will grow in USDA Zones 6a to 9b. Get all the details below
