Mountain Gordlinia Tree - 7 Gallon Pot
Mountain Gordlinia, is an incredible new intergeneric cross between Franklinia altamaha and Gordonia lisianthus developed by Ranney and Fantz of the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University. Taking the best traits from the parent plants x Gordlinia grandiflora grows more vigorously, has larger flowers than either parent, and carries the high disease resistance of Gordonia. The very pretty 5-inch diameter flowers, resembling those of camellia, have white petals surrounding a prominent burst of golden yellow stamens. The sweetly fragrant flowers begin appearing in midsummer continuing through early fall. Lustrous, very handsome, rich green, elongated leaves 4 to 8 inches in length clothe the upright pyramidal form, which reaches 20 to 25 feet tall and maybe half as wide when all grown up. It is semi-evergreen, dropping some of its leaves in the fall, but does have some red to orange fall color on the remaining leaves. A fine specimen around partially shaded patios, porches and decks or around other outdoor sitting or living spaces where the pretty flowers and fragrance can be enjoyed from close up. Gordlinia does best when protected from direct afternoon sunlight. Morning and/or evening sun with afternoon shade is perfect. Get all the details below
