Mexican Flame Vine (Senecio) - 1 Gallon Pot
Senecio confusus, commonly known as the Mexican Flame Vine, is a North American native that can be grown as a hardy perennial in USDA Zones 8b to 11, or as an annual or in containers of 12 to 16-inch diameter in Zones further north where potted plants can be overwintered indoors and taken back outside when temperatures warm in spring. Simply cut it back to any size before moving indoors so it won't take up much space. A rapid grower, it can climb to 12 feet high in a single season to cover a trellis, fence, arch, tall obelisk, post or any other structure its vines can twine around. From spring through summer and even sporadically during fall and winter in frost-free climates, it produces loads of showy daisy-like flowers with a ring of long orange-red rays surrounding a center button of golden-yellow stamens that are sure to draw in loads of hummingbirds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. It is very easy to grow in almost any well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Get all the details below
