Green Headed Cutleaf Coneflower - 5 Pack of Quart Pots
Rudbeckia laciniata, commonly known as the Green Headed or Cutleaf Coneflower, is a hardy North American native perennial wildflower that thrives in moist soil. In the wild, you might find it growing in sunny or partially shaded locations in meadows, woodland borders, or along streams and other bodies of water. A tall grower that can reach 10 feet tall in the wild but usually 4 to 6 feet in home gardens, it is clothed in attractive, deeply lobed green leaves, hence "cutleaf" in the common name. Tall stems bearing abundant 3-3.5 inch wide coneflowers with drooping yellow petals surrounding a green center cone put on quite the flower show during summer. Removing spent blooms will encourage a rebloom in the fall. The butterflies and beneficial pollinators will appreciate the flowers, and the birds, especially American Goldfinches, will feast on the seeds from the spent flowers. This is one of those perennial flowers that will always have you looking forward to its glorious, long-lasting summer bloom, and we've seen no serious problems with insects or disease.
