Oso Easy 'Hot Paprika' Rose - 3 Gallon Pot
One of the hardiest and easiest roses you'll ever grow, the 'Hot Paprika' is a dwarf that is only 2 feet tall with an equal spread when all grown up. Spicing up your garden from late spring or early summer all the way to frost, this cutie will produce abundant bright orange single-petaled roses that age to shades of coral and peach. As the season progresses all flower colors are present on the same bush. With outstanding cold hardiness to -40F, and heat hardiness as far south as zone 9b, its smaller stature makes Hot Paprika a perfect fit as an accent in smaller garden spaces or pots or in groupings or as a low hedge almost anywhere in the country. You'll also be happy to know this variety has outstanding disease resistance. Get all the details below!

Landscape & Garden Uses

The Hot Paprika Rose is excellent for both garden beds and containers. Growing only 2 feet tall and equally as wide, it is ideal for use as a colorful accent in smaller garden spaces and pots, planters and other containers, or groupings or as a low hedge in larger spaces. Paprika Rose is one that we don't hesitate to suggest for use in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to rose gardens, cottage gardens and orange theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  2 feet apart for groupings and solid borders;  5 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Requirements

Hot Paprika Rose is exceptionally easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility in full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, the Hot Paprika requires morning sun to dry the morning dew from their leaves, which prevents powdery mildew from forming. Some afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering. No pruning is required however the plants responds well to it. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage quicker and heavier rebloom throughout the seasons. The bush can be cut back to 4 to 6 inches above the ground before new growth begins to emerge in late winter or very early spring. Plants will then quickly flush out new growth and start blooming with the arrival of spring temperatures.

USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map

To use the map, find your location to see what color  region it is in and then find the number that corresponds to the color of that zone. This will be your USDA Zone.

* For more information about USDA Zones look below the map.

* The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map was created so that gardeners, growers and landscapers have a way to compare the average lowest temperature in their area with the average lowest temperature that a specific plant will survive without damage.

Every type of plant has a low temperature threshold. Before purchasing plants to grow in your landscape or gardens, make sure it is one that will most likely survive the average low temperature in your zone.

Hedge
By our definition, a hedge is typically more formal and lower in height than a privacy screen. A hedge is made of closely planted shrubs or other plants which, as they grow and are trimmed and shaped or left to grow natural, form a straight or curved solid wall or fence of foliage from 1 to 10 feet in height.
Privacy Screen
By our definition, a privacy screen is typically less formal and taller in height than a hedge. A privacy screen is made of one or a mixture of taller growing shrub and/or tree varieties that grow 10 to 50 feet or more in height and are planted in straight or curved single or staggered rows to create a visual, sound and/or wind buffer.
