Mitch's Weeping Scotch Pine - 3 Gallon Pot
Discovered by John Mitch in Aurora, Oregon, Mitch's Weeping Scotch Pine is a captivating, living sculpture in the garden. It can be grown two ways, as a spreading groundcover or staked to form a small weeping tree. Either way, no two specimens will look the same. When staked, it will grow 5 to 10 feet high, depending on the height of the stake, and 4 to 8 feet wide, depending on pruning, which it responds very well to. When left to grow naturally, it will reach 12 to 18 inches in height and spread 10 to 15 feet wide with its branches sprawling across the ground and weeping over walls and boulders. Its branches are clothed in whorls of attractive, grayish blue-green needles that retain their color year-round. As the tree ages, its branches become more contorted and display orange and copper colored, flaking bark. Regardless of how you grow it, Mitch's Weeping is very low-maintenance and easy to care for, is highly drought-tolerant once established, and extremely cold hardy to -50F. Sure to be a captivating conversation piece in the landscape! Get all the details below
