Beal's Starry Night Dwarf Eastern White Pine - 1 Gallon Pot
An extremely rare dwarf version of our native Eastern White Pine, Pinus strobus 'Beal's Starry Night' was discovered as a witch's broom on a specimen planted back in 1896 by Professor William James Beal on the campus of Michigan State University. Adding maybe 3 inches in size per year, it forms a broad globe to pyramidal shrub around 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide when all grown up, making it a good fit for small garden spaces and containers. Tufts of soft blue-green needles add fantastic color and texture to the garden. In spring, smaller tufts of bright green needles surround a bud at every stem tip, resembling stars. Cold hardy to -40F, Beal's Starry Night is easy to grow in USDA Zones 3-7b in areas with hot summer climates and 3a-8b in cool summer climates. Get all the details below
