Loma Linda Dwarf Southwestern White Pine - 1 Gallon Pot
Discovered as a witch's broom by Jerry Morris in New Mexico near La Junta canyon across from the Loma Linda ranch, Pinus strobiformis 'Loba Linda' is a unique and eye-catching dwarf form of the Southwestern White Pine. It grows slowly to form a dense, broad pyramid to maybe 7 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide at its base, making it a perfect fit for smaller garden spaces. Forming multiple buds at the ends of the branches, it is densely clothed in fluffy tufts of soft, silvery blue-green needles year-round. Being a native of the Southwest, it can tolerate drier conditions than other white pine cultivars. A rare beauty and focal point in the garden, Loma Linda is one of those plants that will add a fantastic touch to your landscape and that folks feel compelled to reach out and touch. So make sure to pick just the right spot to plant it, and be careful not to overcrowd it with other large growing shrubs or trees. Consider surrounding it with low-spreading groundcovers such as creeping junipers, sedums, and ice plants. Get all the details below
