The Austrian Black Pine is a handsome and easy-to-grow, medium to fast growing evergreen tree that reaches 40 to 60 feet tall and 20 to 25 feet wide, adding 12 to 24 inches in size per year. Its dense pyramidal form, combined with attractive dark green needles, make it an excellent choice as a specimen tree or for privacy screen plantings to block an unwanted view. Its attractive, dark furrowed bark on older trees is where this tree gets its name, though we think it maintains its true beauty when its horizontal branches are allowed to grow to the ground. That said, lower branches can be removed to expose the trunk and to allow people to walk under the canopy. Vertical white candles at the branch tips adorn the tree in spring followed by 1 to 3 inch long attractive brown cones. Get all the details below!
