January Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) - 1 Gallon Pot
Extremely showy at a time of year when not much else is blooming in the landscape, Jasminum nudiflorum, commonly called Winter Jasmine or January Jasmine, can be grown as a shrub or a climber. As a shrub it forms a weeping mound 4 to 5 feet tall and 10 feet wide or so with no pruning. As a climber it can reach 8 to 15 feet depending on the height of the support structure. In mid to late winter, January in our north-central Georgia gardens, it puts on quite a show when the arching naked stems become covered in a profusion of bright yellow flowers resembling those of the Carolina Jasmine vine, hence the common name. Budded branches are excellent for cutting and forcing indoors. Oblong bright green leaves emerge after the bloom cycle maturing to a shiny medium green. Excellent in flowering shrub and landscape borders and to spill over walls or climb trellises and other structures, Winter Jasmine is definitely one of those shrubs that will always have you looking forward to its glorious and cheerful winter bloom.
