One of the most eye-catching Helleborus that gets the most oohhs and ahhs from guests browsing our gardens, 'Painted Doubles' is an artistic masterpiece of a Lenten Rose created by world-renowned Hellebore breeder Marietta Ernie O’Byrne. From late winter through spring, this beauty produces large double white flowers with each petal artistically brushed with deep plum-purple and red hues. The long-lasting flowers provide welcome color in the garden when not much else is blooming and are excellent for cutting and use in arrangements or to float in a bowl of water. Upright, evergreen foliage emerges purple and matures to a handsome blue-tinted deep green. You might be happy to know that Helleborus are deer and rabbit resistant, heat and cold tolerant (-30F), and will thrive in full to part shade and mostly sun in cooler climates. That said, in our own gardens we always plant Helleborus in shady sites because that's where we think they stand out and shine the most. Get all the details below!
