Mesa Bright Bicolor Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) - 6 Pack of 1 Gallon Pots
One of the showiest and easiest to grow of North American native perennials, the Mesa Bright Bicolor Gallardia, commonly called Blanket Flower, certainly lives up to its name. The common name refers to the brightly colored flower patterns that resemble Native American blankets. It could also refer to how the flowers "blanket" the foliage over a very long bloom period beginning in early summer and continuing well into fall. The intense golden-yellow flowers sport prominent red center cushions with a red band surrounding. How large the red zone is will depend on temperatures, though the yellow outer band is usually more dominate. The butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators will flock to this floriferous beauty and the sturdy stems make for great cut flowers. Extremely drought tolerant when established, and heat and cold resistant (-30F), Mesa Bright Bicolor can be grown almost anywhere in the United States (USDA Zones 4a-9b) in as much sun as you can give it and very well drained soil, even poor rocky and sandy soils. Excellent in garden beds and containers, and you might be happy to know the deer and rabbits leave this one alone. Get all the details below
