Whipcord Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica 'Dacrydiodes') - 5 Gallon Pot
An exceptionally whimsical and bizarre-in-a-good-way Japanese Cedar, Cryptomeria japonica 'Dacrydioides'' is sure to be an outstdaning attraction and conversation piece in the landscape. It features very long, rope-like branches clothed in overlapping gray-green needled leaves creating a "whipcord" appearance, hence the common name. Every year, buds at the ends of branches develop an airy spray of long new shoots. Its habit is upright, conical and airy when young, becoming more compact as it ages, reaching an average size of 12 to 18 feet tall and 6 to 9 feet wide when all grown up. 'Dacrydioides' is very similar to the cultivar 'Araucarioides' but its development is smaller and its habit denser, which makes for a highly unsual and dramatic focal point in smaller landscape spaces and containers.
