Golden Glory Cornelian Cherry Dogwood (Multi-Trunk) - 7 Gallon Pot
Exceptionally ornamental and adaptable, the Cornelian Cherry Dogwood (Cornus mas) is a small, tough and adaptable but very pretty tree that provides four-season interest in the landscape. 'Golden Glory' is unique from the species in that it grows more erect, is more vigorous, and flowers more abundantly. In late winter to early spring, before the leaves emerge, abundant clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers, resembling those of Forsythia, appear on every stem and twig on the tree. After the flowers comes attractive olive-shaped edible red berries that can be eaten fresh or dried and used for drinks, syrups, preserves, jams, and sauces. The berries are tart, so if you don't like them the birds certainly will. The dark green leaves turn to yellow, red and purple shades in the fall and serve as a host for the Azure Butterfly caterpillar. Peeling, exfoliating dark reddish-brown bark provide interest during the winter months. It typically grows 15 to 20 feet tall and lower branches can be removed to form a small tree if desired. Highly prized for its early spring bloom, the Golden Glory Cornellian Cherry Dogwood is one of those special trees that always keeps us looking forward to spring! Get all the details below
