A robust and very hardy North American native fern, the Christmas Fern was named such because its foliage stays green right through the holiday season. It forms a very attractive fountain-like clump of upright arching fronds with glossy blue-green leaflets. Christmas Fern is very easy to grow in heavy to partial shade so is a wonderful texture plant in woodland or shade gardens or in containers. In the wild you might see it growing on shady slopes or other well-drained areas. It does not like wet feet so make sure to plant it in sites with well-drained soil. You might be happy to know it is deer resistant and will grow under black walnut trees. Get all the details below!
