Silver European Fan Palm - 3 Gallon Pot
A spectacular version of the European Fan Palm, Chamaerops humilis var. cerifera, commonly called the Silver European or Blue Mediterranean Fan Palm, hails from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco where it grows up to 5,400 feet elevation. One of the most cold hardy palms, back during the winter of 2013 it survived 3F in our north-central Georgia gardens. In cooler climates of USDA Zones 7b to 8b it tends to form a multi-trunk shrub to about 5 to 6 feet tall and equally or more as wide. In frost-free climates of Zone 9 through 11 it might reach 10 to 15 tall and wide, developing a taller trunk(s) that measures 7 inches or so in diameter at maturity. The large, rounded fans spaning up to 3 feet across have up to 20 narrow leaflets that are a stunning powder blue on the upper side and silver on the underside. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day for the best foliage color. The Silver European Fan Palm is a fine tropical accent in the landscape that is sure to be a beautiful conversation piece! Get all the details below
