Downy Pagoda Plant (Blephilia ciliata) - 1 Gallon Pot
Sure to be a conversation piece in the garden, Blephilia ciliata, commonly called Pagoda Plant or Downy Wood Mint, is an easy-to-grow North American native in the mint family that has both outstanding ornamental features and culinary uses. It is a clump-forming perennial that features sturdy square stems to 30 inches tall bearing showy, whorled, globular flower clusters arranged in a tiered, pagoda-like structure along stems. The cluster is packed with rows of two-lipped bluish purple to bluish pink flowers with purple spots that are produced from mid or late spring through early to mid summer. Butterflies and a variety of other beneficial pollinators will thank you for planting this one. The attractive, grey-green lanceolate leaves are fragrant when crushed and can be used as a flavoring in drinks and sauces. You might be happy to know that the deer don't like the minty scent of this plant so turn their nose up to it. Get all the details below
