As the name suggests, this stunning and hardy Japanese Maple originated in the state of Rhode Island. An upright dwarf that is perfect for smaller garden spaces and containers, it has exceptionally dense palmate foliage that emerges cherry red in spring, darkening to burgundy shades in summer, and then to brilliant shades of orange and red with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. Leaves drop in late fall to reveal dark red branches that provide interest during the winter months. In our gardens we have it growing in partial shade but hear that it does very well and holds its foliage color even in full sun. Get all the details below!
