Eagle Point White Fir - 1 Gallon Pot
The Eagle Point White Fir was discovered as a witches' broom in the late 1980s at Eagle Point Park in Clinton, Iowa. A true dwarf with a slow growth rate of maybe 2 inches per year makes it perfect for small garden spaces and containers that can be situated on or around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. When young, its habit is flat-topped, but with age, it eventually forms a cone to 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide at its base. It sports curved powder blue-green needles that contrast beautifully with the lighter green new growth in spring. When rubbed, the needles have a pleasant lemon scent. Unlike most firs, Eagle Pointy is not only cold tolerant (USDA Zone 3) but also handles heat throughout its range (Zones 3a-7b). Being an American native, Archer's Dwarf is easy to grow in full sun or partial shade and well-drained soil. However, remember that established conifers don't like being moved, so spend time choosing the spot this diminutive beauty will call home for its lifetime. Get all the details below
