Tangerine Beauty Crossvine
Bignonia capreolata 'Tangerine Beauty'

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 6a-9b (5a?)  Find Your Zone

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this Bignonia Crossvine is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring. That said, this vine grows quickly so you might have to cut it back some before bringing it indoors.

Special Attributes

Tangerine Beauty Crossvine is an easy-to-grow, fast growing, floriferous North American native vine that covers fences (from top to bottom), arbors and other structures quickly. It produces LOADS of fragrant, bright orange-red trumpet-shaped flowers with yellow throats in spring reblooming in late summer in our central Georgia gardens. Some years it seems to bloom spring to frost! The dense foliage consisting of attractive, oblong leaves remain evergreen in the deep South turning to reddish-purple in fall, with subsequent leaf drop in the northern regions where it will grow.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing up to 30 feet in height or length (however tall or long the support structure) and 4 feet or more in width, the Tangerine Beauty Crossvine is ideal for use to climb on and cover fences (from top to bottom!), or to cover a trellis, arch, arbor, pergola or any other structure that might benefit from or support the flowering vine. Rather than grow along just the top of a fence, the vines cascade all the way down to the ground to entirely cover the fence. A fine addition to hummingbird and butterfly gardens, tropical look gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  3-4' along fences

Cultural Preferences

The Tangerine Beauty Crossvine is exceptionally easy to grow in most any average, moist but well-drained soil of average to low fertility. It grows in full sun or shade, however flowers heavier with more sun. We recommend at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for full flowering. Plants are quite drought tolerant when established. Pruning isn't necessary, however the vines can be pruned after flowering to keep tidy.
