Special Attributes

Very suitable for smaller landscapes, the Snow White Dwarf Lawson's Cypress wows with it's delicate needle-like, snowy-white new growth which matures to a wonderful blue-green. It grows slowly to 5 or 6 feet tall and about 18 inches wide at the base. Though it might look more rounded when young, as the plant matures it forms an upright, narrow pyramid. Its smaller size makes it a perfect choice as a focal point specimen in smaller spaces or in containers.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing slowly in a narrow pyramidal form to 6 feet tall and 18 inches wide at the base, the Snow White Cypress is ideal for use as an eye-catching, focal point specimen in small garden spaces and home foundation plantings and is effective in small groupings in mid to large size spaces. Snow White is perfect for marking corners and entryways where a shorter plant is desired and performs well in containers provided there is good drainage. A fine addition for Asian themed gardens, conifer gardens, yellow theme color gardens, and  Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).

Cultural Preferences

The Snow White Cypress is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. Constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. Avoid overwatering. Provide only enough water to keep the soil damp to moist. Established plants are quite drought tolerant and will only require an occasional watering during prolonged periods of drought. Maintenance is minimal. No pruning required except to remove a stray branch that is spoiling the shape of the plant or to remove a damaged plant part.
