'Purple de Oro' Daylily
Hemerocallis 'Purple De Oro'

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 3a-9b  Find Your Zone

Special Attributes

If you like the ever-popular reblooming 'Stella De Oro' Daylily, you'll love her beautiful reblooming cousin the 'Purple De Oro' Daylily,  produces an abundance of gorgeous, ruffled, dusty-purple flowers that rise above attractive mounds of green foliage. The mauve-purple flower petals have lighter midribs and edges that surround a golden-yellow throat. Absolutely beautiful! As with Stellla de Oro, we've never seen a speck of rust on Purple de Oro.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 15 inches tall (flowers to 20 inches) and spreading to 18 inches or so wide, Purple de Oro is ideal for use in groupings, stunning mass plantings or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders or mass planted on embankments, hillsides and slopes. Also nice as an accent or small grouping in small garden spaces or as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in combination container gardens.  A fine addition to daylily gardens, perennial gardens or purple color theme gardens.

Spacing:  15-18 inches for mass plantings or as a solid border edger; 36 inches or more for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

When planted right and in the right spot, Daylilies are exceptionally easy to grow. Though they will perform well in a wide range of soil types and conditions, they prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Full to mostly sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some lightly filtered sun or shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. Daylilies don't require deadheading but the removal of spent flower scapes (stems) encourage rebloom. When established, daylilies are moderately drought tolerant.
