Meerlo Lavender
Lavandula allardii Meerlo PP25276

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 9a-10b  Find Your Zone

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 9a, where this Lavender variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Special Attributes

If you live and garden in USDA Zones 9 or 10 and haven't had any luck growing Lavender plants due to the high heat and humidity conditions, You're gonna love Meerlo Lavender, one of if not the most heat tolerant lavenders on earth. Meerlo is an exceptionally pretty lavender with brightly variegated green and light yellow to white highly fragrant foliage. What's more, it sports pale blue flowers in summer typical of other varieties. The leaves are great for drying and used for sachets and as a moth repellent.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 24-36" tall and wide, Meerlo Lavender is ideal for use an accent, in groupings or mass plantings, or as a low hedge in landscape and perennial borders. It is also suitable for container gardens, which can be overwintered indoors above Zone 9. A fine addition to herb gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens, rock gardens, and fragrance gardens.

Spacing:  18 to 24 inches for mass plantings or solid borders; 5 feet or more for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

Lavender is easy to grow in most and moist to somewhat dry well-drained soil of average to low fertility and plenty of sun. Constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. If desired, the plant can be cut back by one-third its height after flowering to maintain a fuller plant. For example, if your plant is 30 inches tall you can cut it back to 20 inches tall.
