USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 5b-11  Find Your Zone

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of  USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5b, where this Liriope variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Special Attributes

This evergreen perennial of the lily family is one of the most widely used groundcover plants in existence - and for very good reason! Unlike other Liriope varieties that spread wildly, 'Majestic', like its cousin 'Big Blue', forms neat clumps of grassy foliage that gradually increase in size over time, making it a perfect choice for use as a border edger. In summer, spikes of rich violet, hyacinth-like flowers rise above the dark green grassy clumps and are followed by black berries.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing a foot tall and 18 inches or more wide, the clumping rather than spreading growth habit of Majestic Liriope make it the perfect choice for a border edger along paths, walkways and patios. It serves equally as well in mass plantings as a groundcover under trees and in home foundation plantings. It can also be used solo or in combination with other plants in container gardens where it adds a very nice vertical accent and grassy texture.

Suggested Spacing:  12-18" for use as a groundcover or solid border edger

Cultural Preferences

Majestic Liriope is exceptionally easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun or full shade. Majestic Liriope will tolerate full sun however we think it looks and performs better given some shade during the afternoon, especially in warmer climates.
