Special Attributes

One in the Joy of Living Daylily series, 'Butterfly Bliss' is a prolific, reblooming Daylily that produces an abundance of large, 5-inch diameter, unsual lavender flowers that have white midribs and a chartreuse throat. It rivals the infamous 'Stell de Oro' Daylily in longevity of bloom and has demonstrated excellent disease resistance...we've seen no rust! Most effective in groupings and truly outstanding planted in mass, however makes for a nice accent in smaller garden spaces. The elegant flowers are also useful in cut flower arrangements.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to about 18-24 inches tall and gradually spreading to form a 18-24 inch wide neat clump, the Joy of Living Butterfly Blis Daylily is ideal for use in groupings, stunning mass plantings, or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders or mass planted on embankments, hillsides and slopes. Also nice as an accent or small grouping in small garden spaces or as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in combination container gardens. A fine addition to daylily gardens, perennial gardens or yellow color theme gardens.

Spacing: 18 inches for mass plantings or as a solid border edger; 36 inches or more for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

When planted right and in the right spot, Daylilies are exceptionally easy to grow. Though they will perform well in a wide range of soil types and conditions, they prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Full to mostly sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some lightly filtered sun or shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. Daylilies don't require deadheading but the removal of spent flower scapes (stems) encourage rebloom. When established, daylilies are moderately drought tolerant.
