Hot Head® is a dwarf Arborvitae perfect for use in smaller garden spaces and pots, where its larger cousins won't fit. Being a North American native, Arborvitae is very easy to grow and care for; with exceptional tolerance to both heat and cold. An excellent selection form the low-maintenance landscape.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing only 3-4 feet tall and wide at maturity, the Hothead Arborvitae is ideal for use as a specimen or in small groupings in small to medium size gardens. In larger gardens use in groupings, or as a straight or staggered hedge row in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. Plant one in the ground or in pots on either side of the front door or to accentuate other entryways. Hothead's smaller size lends well for use in pots, planters and other containers. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens and formal gardens.

Spacing:  3 feet apart for solid hedges;  6 feet or more apart for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

Being North American natives plants, Arborvitae are very easy to grow and care for. They are adaptable to many soil types including red clay and like full sun to part shade. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil. They don't like an overly dry site. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. Maintenance is minimal with very little if any pruning ever required.
