Happy Returns Daylily
Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns'

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 3a-9b  Find Your Zone

Special Attributes

'Happy Returns' is a prolific, reblooming Daylily very similar to the infamous and ever-popular 'Stella de Oro'. While Stella produces golden-yellow flower, Happy Returns flowers shine a wonderful lemon-yellow in the garden and they're wonderfully fragrant! In our gardens, this one blooms profusely in early summer and then repeats sporadically until frost. We've seen no problem with rust or any other diseases.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to about 18 inches tall and gradually spreading to form a 18 inch wide neat clump, Happy Returns is is ideal for use in groupings, stunning mass plantings, or as a border along paths and walkways in landscape borders or mass planted on embankments, hillsides and slopes. Also nice as an accent or small grouping in small garden spaces or as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in combination container gardens. A fine addition to daylily gardens, perennial gardens or yellow color theme gardens.

Spacing:  15-18 inches for mass plantings or as a solid border edger; 36 inches or more for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

When planted right and in the right spot, Daylilies are exceptionally easy to grow. Though they will perform well in a wide range of soil types and conditions, they prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Full to mostly sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some lightly filtered sun or shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. Daylilies don't require deadheading but the removal of spent flower scapes (stems) encourage rebloom. When established, daylilies are moderately drought tolerant.
