Feelin' Blue Deodar Cedar
Cedrus deodara  'Feelin' Blue'

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 7a-9b  Find Your Zone

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Deodar cedar variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know you can grow it in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Special Attributes

Feelin' Blue is the lowest growing of all Deodar cedars, and one of the most unique. It features bright blue foliage on a dwarf, very attractive spreading mound of "reaching arms" and pendulous branchlets. A mature specimen is truly a sight to behold.

Please Note: In the size selections above, our Feelin' Blue Deodar Cedars are shrub form unless otherwise noted as a "Single Trunk Tree."

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a mound 3 to 4 feet tall and up to 6 feet wide, and because it makes such a statement in the landscape, we think Feelin' Blue Deodar Cedar is most effective when used as a focal point specimen or in large pots, planters and other containers. A fine addition to conifer or rock gardens, or beside a large boulder in the landscape. Looks really nice around a garden pond. Make sure not to overcrowd this beauty with larger growing shrubs!

When planted right, and in the right spot, the Feelin' Blue Deodar Cedar is very easy to grow. It adapts to most soil types of average fertility, preferring a moist well drained soil. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other conifers, constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. Just keep in mind that whether growing in the ground or in pots, good drainage is essential. As with other Deodar Cedars, Feelin' Blue likes as much sun as you can give it. Some shade is tolerated however plants won't be as full. Maintenance is nil to none.
