Special Attributes

If you're looking for edible plants that are easy to grow and take up little space, definitely consider raspberries. They are self-fertile so will produce fruit even if only one plant is grown.

The Dorman Red Raspberry grows particularly well in the southern United States (Zones 6a-10b). The plant is vigorous, and has a more trailing growth habit than most of the other more upright growing raspberry varieties. This summer bearing, floricane-fruiting plant is very cold hardy and prolific, producing an ample number of large, firm, bright red, glossy berries, that are delectable either fresh or frozen. Dorman Red has also demonstrated very good resistant to heat, drought, and disease.
