Beyond Blue Fescue
Festuca glauca 'Beyond Blue' PP23307

USDA Plant Hardiness Zones: 4a-9b Find Your Zone

Special Attributes

Unlike other blue fescue varieties, Beyond Blue Fescue can take the heat and humidity. The intense, powder-blue foliage of this perennial fescue stays bright through all seasons for year-round interest in the garden. The flowers that rise above the tidy mounds in late spring and summer add even more interest to this wonderful ornamental grass. Flowers start out greenish-blue and fade to a straw color by late summer that contrasts nicely with the blue foliage. But if you don't like the flowers they can be removed.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a mound 12 inches tall and a littler wider, Beyond Blue Fescue is ideal for use as an accent, grouping, or border edger in small garden spaces. In larger garden spaces, a mass planting of Beyond Blue is absolutely captivating...providing a soothing feeling to any who gaze upon it. Also serves as a solo or grassy accent in container gardens. A fine addition to ornamental grass gardens, blue color them gardens. bird gardens, rock gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  16" apart for mass plantings; 30" or more for space between plants

Cultural Preferences

Beyond Blue Fescue is very easy to grow in most any well-drained soil and full sun to mostly sun. Constantly soggy or wet soils are a killer. Established plants are quite tolerant of dry soil conditions. Maintenance is little to none. If you prefer, flowers can be removed after they appear in summer.
