Dazzle Me Pink Dwarf Crape Myrtle
Lagerstroemia hybrid 'Gamad 5'

USDA Cold Hardiness Zones: 6a-9b  Find Your Zone

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this Crape Myrtle is not winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Special Attributes

Developed by the Michael Dirr Breeding Program at the University of Georgia, 'Dazzle Me Pink' is a fine selection in the Dazzle Dwarf Crape Myrtle Series. One of the most beautiful summer-flowering shrubs in our gardens, the deep green foliage of Dazzle Me Pink Dazzle becomes literally smothered with bright pink flower clusters in summer. Truly a sight to behold. Another fine attribute is the handsome burgundy-red fall foliage.

Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and wide in 10 years, Dazzle Me Pink Crape Myrtle is an ideal selection as an accent or specimen in smaller garden spaces or as a stand alone in containers, which can conveniently be brought indoors for overwintering by those of you who garden north of USDA Cold Hardiness Zone 6a. In larger landscape spaces Dazzle Me Pink is outstanding in small to large groupings or as a colorful hedge.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Its smaller size makes Dazzle Me Pink Dwarf Crape Myrtle a great choice for smaller garden spaces where larger crape myrtle trees won't fit.  Plant them in the sunny landscape as a specimen or in groups for an outstanding show of color. Also great in containers, planters and pots.

Cultural Preferences

Dazzle Dwarf Crape Myrtles are exceptionally easy to grow and maintain when planted right and in the right spot. They're not too picky about soil type however prefer a well-drained soil and as much sun as you can give them. They are very low maintenance requiring no pruning to keep a nice shape. That said, spent flowers can be removed to encourage a possible second flush of flowers. A light pruning before leaves emerge in early spring can help to maintain a more dense shrub. When established, plants are quite drought tolerant; only requiring supplemental water during prolonged dry periods during summer. As with all other crape myrtle, deer won't touch the Dazzles. You'll find more tips under the Planting and Care tabs on this page. Another nice attribute is the burgundy-red fall foliage.
